The longest walk

This is for all those people who like me currently, just can’t seem to sleep through the night. I really don’t know why, but it’s so frustrating and I hadn’t realised before just how much we take a good night’s sleep for granted! I hope someone likes the poem.

Reece and I would also like to thank all you guys for following and popping in. You’re the best!

It’s four am and I’m awake
That elusive sleep once again evades me
Slipping imperceptibly out of my grasp
To leave me here, wide eyed, thoughts racing
I’ve never been an insomniac
Where did this come from?
The night stretches out impossibly
A long road I once again must trudge
Endless distance and time
Pursued by those demons of the mind
Which live only in these darkest hours
Sighing, I start the longest walk toward dawn.

About Marie

An eccentric & quirky artist and writer who fills her time between fantasy roleplaying sessions with painting, writing and playing her guitar (rather badly). Usually to be found with paint-stained fingers surrounded by books and tubes of acrylic paint.
