Hard Wired (poem)

With the increasing focus on social media I felt this poem has some relevance.   What do you think?

Hard wired

… Let’s talk a while

Let’s engage in conversation

We’ll converse and cogitate

With zeal and animation

… Can you put it in a tweet?

Can you make it short and sweet?

Be brief, abbreviate,  concise

Is just as nice..

My conversations you do thwart

I have no retort,  that’s short.

There’s nothing that I want to say

In such a cut, truncated way…

… But real life talk is such a pain

It tasks and hurts my shrivelled brain..

My virtual world gives such a buzz

I don’t know why you chafe and fuss…

… Social media’s not up my street

It’s making me feel obsolete

Of trying to talk I’m getting tired

My conversations’s no longer required…

About Marie

An eccentric & quirky artist and writer who fills her time between fantasy roleplaying sessions with painting, writing and playing her guitar (rather badly). Usually to be found with paint-stained fingers surrounded by books and tubes of acrylic paint.
