Lost Tales (poem)

If I had only found the words

To ask of things you’d seen

Of ocean depths and Northern lights

Of red and blue and green

Of storm force winds

Of seas becalmed

Of instruments that failed.

Lost at sea you used the stars

And by their light you sailed.

Of amber cast up in your nets

Of Russian sailors and their bets

The Royal Ark that gave a tow

Cruel cliffs of water high and low

With lights that danced

From far below

If I had only found the words

Before your life had fled

They’d not be haunting me each night

As I lie here in bed.

Please note the photograph here is not mine and was found on the Internet,  hence for that image I can take no credit.  I just thought it represented my poem well.

About Marie

An eccentric & quirky artist and writer who fills her time between fantasy roleplaying sessions with painting, writing and playing her guitar (rather badly). Usually to be found with paint-stained fingers surrounded by books and tubes of acrylic paint.

  1. pat says:

Poor you. We all think what if. However he may not have answered and you would still be awake.
